Kids Spend Too Much Time And How To Fix It

Is your child playing too much video games instead of doing fitness?

Is he avoiding social situations—and is his behavior worsening as a result of constant gaming?

I have heard the desperation and concern in the voices of many, many parents whose kids seem to spend all their time playing video games and no exercise.

As one parent said, “I worry that my son might be addicted.

When I shut the game off, he freaks out and goes ballistic! I just don’t know what to do.”

If you are worried about the amount of time your child spends gaming, you are not alone.

Indeed, it is a frequent topic that we hear about from parents.

What is more, in 2023 the survey found children’s screen time totals an average of 4 hours per day.

Do the math: that is more than 28 hours per week in front of a screen—more than a part-time job!

But understand that even if your child is playing a lot of video games and gets angry when you set limits, it doesn’t mean he has an addiction.

In fact, while there is much buzz about “video game addiction” these days, it is not yet recognised as a true disorder.

So how do we change our kids life style for the better and get off the computer screen?

Here are a few tips that you need to implement to weed them off slowly and change their lives around for the better.

Reduce time on computers

This is the first thing you as a parent need to set. It is no point allowing kids to jump on computer games as soon they finished their meal as this takes away the valuable time they could spend with their parents at the dinner table. Remember, you as a parent need to make them understand it is a family time and not me time.

Find their interests

Kids have never been good at telling people or parents their interest unless you witness something that child has great potential in. You be surprise how much you can learn about kids if we as adults actually listen more and mouths closed. Kids are have a special unique way of presenting themselves without realising and the message is there for us to see or hear.

Let them join you

I lost count how many times I wanted to go with my father when I was child to different places just to see what is all about such as shopping or going to town, but I seem to get turn down alot Maybe parents felt it is easier to get on with the task without dragging kids along? or be left alone to escape the family lifestyle?

Whatever it maybe, they are simply missing out the adventures you are going on and they would love to explore it with you.

Who knows, they may find something that could interest them outside while you are out with them.

Be inspiration to your kids

Everything we do and say has a massive impact on the kids lives. This is where their future lies. I lost count how many kids have lost interest in their parents because they have no interest in their lives. Positive mindset and goals will portray into kids lives too as they too will want to become like you. Let your kids walk beside you and soon you be looking up to yourselves too.

Teach them what you know and but allow them to learn for themselves too

This is a very important one for me as I have spent all my childhood being dictated by my parents and not allowing me the freedom to learn for myself. This can create long term issues if you control and dominate them if you don’t agree with something. Remember, just because you dont agree, doesn’t mean it won’t work for them. Allow them to find it for themselves and if they need your advice, then be there for them. There is giving advice and there is controlling them which are two completely different things.

Do activities together

Kids love spending time with their parents doing activities as this allows for everyone to get fitter and healthier all together. Not all kids will want to do the same things as parents but if you as a parent can find it in your heart and time to get outside with your kids and do the activities that will interest them, then it is a win win situation.

Remember, you are spending quality time with them regardless of their interest in outdoor activities.

Final note:

Well we hope this has given you some ideals to take away and use them on your kids that are sitting in front of computers all day and watching their childhood go by.

We have plenty of activities the parents and kids can do at our academy where you both can train and spend quality times together and achieve your goals.
